Lead QA Engineer (Test Lead)
LONDON Based (3 days p/w in office)
Purpose of Role
Leading and managing the day-to-day testing activity, including test strategy, test planning and identifying the scope of testing to provide guidance to the project delivery teams on the testing that is required for our digital projects for our customers.
Lead the innovative definition processes of implementing new strategies in supporting the continual improvement of our QA process with a focus on test automation, quality and test efficiency.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
A hands-on role to take responsibility for the testing of large enterprise scale web projects assigned to you, and members of your direct team reports, across several devices/browsers to ensure the product delivered by you/team to our clients promotes our level of high quality and remarkable excellence with simplicity and consistency.
Coaching, mentoring and leading more junior members of the team and working hands-on when guidance, correction or progressive action is needed.
Creating, articulating and helping to implement test strategies to cover functional and non-functional testing – utilising automation and manual testing where appropriate.
Lead on all test automation initiatives, innovations, tools selections and processes for the advance of QA Engineering, supporting the Head of QA/CTO as appropriate.
Providing accurate estimates for you (and teams) testing tasks and delivering them in a timely manner.
You will oversee all test documentation related to your team and projects, and to provide reports for the Head of QA/CTO or others, and potentially to clients as agreed.
Taking the initiative to implement automated quality testing and performance testing where applicable. You will be working alongside and leading QA engineers both onshore and offshore.
Working closely with the Head of QA/CTO and other senior members of the team to coordinate your work and improve the process of testing used across the company.
Proactively finding improved methods and making recommendations to the management team. This is an extremely fast paced environment, so you will need to be able to work efficiently independently while managing multiple priorities.
Work with the Head of QA/CTO in recruiting/partnering remarkable QA Engineering talent into the team.

Technical Skills
A strong and detailed technical understanding of testing and quality assurance within a digital agency/consultancy working with enterprise grade technical (web/app) projects
Strong expertise and experience of test automation tools and frameworks (e.g. Katalon, Selenium etc)
Experience of Playwright and/or Cyprus highly beneficial
Strong experience using Postman, JMeter and other specific testing tools
Experience of testing across multiple browsers and devices (Mobile, Desktop, Tablet) using industry standard tooling (e.g. Browserstack)
Experience of implementing continuous integration, continuous testing and continuous deployment within an digital agency/consultancy environment working with multiple concurrent projects
A detailed working and experience of working with Agile methodology (Scrum) on complex development projects
Proven experience in several different types of testing (Functional, Regression, Integration, Performance, Automated, Security, Accessibility)
Specific Job Skills / Knowledge
ISTQB or equivalent certification in testing at foundation level or above
Experienced in working on high profile, fast paced website/ecommerce projects in a digital agency or digital consultancy highly beneficial (preferred)
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with customers, prospects and internal stakeholders
Ability to accurately document work and projects and report to the leadership and management team – email, presentations or in person
Understanding of testing practices and testing principles (e.g. TDD/BDD, performance & security testing)
Experience of using defect management tools (e.g. JIRA, Zephyr, Azure DevOps etc)
Leadership and team player skills – engaging and able to train and get the best out of people
Curious minded – Continuously asking why? what if? how?
Experience working with offshore teams is advantageous
Qualifications / Training
Degree in computer science or equivalent vocational experience
